Bridget is a printmaker creating original etchings of Australia's beautiful birdlife which are then used in beautiful homewares and art pieces. Originally from Northern Ireland, Bridget attended art college in Scotland, studying jewellery, before coming to Australia in 2005 and settling in country Victoria.
On arrival in Australia, Bridget attended a weekend printmaking course and the technique just clicked for her. It was a natural continuation of her love of drawing. Bridget has always been interested in birds, but when she came to Australia she felt like she was in a new world, very far from home, as the bird life here is so different. Their different shapes, colours, sounds and even how they behaved. After constantly questioning friends on “What’s that bird? oooh! what’s that one?” her friends gifted Bridget her first Australian bird book and she set about familiarising herself with all these exotic species. Using birds as inspiration in her art is Bridget's way of continuing to learn about them. There’s so much more to know!
