Accessibility

While we do have an 11cm high threshold step at our front door, we are working on a removable ramp to improve access.  We are also here to help anyone who needs it.  We can see the door from the counter so happy to assist if requested or you can call us on 0491 110 374 if you'd like us to meet you there.

The footpath along Charles Street in front of our store is approx. 3.3m wide.

We have three aisles running from the front of the store to the back, and aisles running across the front and rear.  All aisles join into a figure 8. 

As you enter, the first aisle to your left is 75cm wide, the centre aisle between the two tables is 83cm wide and the last aisle on the right is 90cm wide.  

Our counter is located at the rear of the store, but is only 6 metres from the door.  We have a clear line of sight to anyone at our door from the counter.

The aisle running across the front of the store is 180cm wide to the right of the entrance, and 130cm wide to the left.

The aisle across the back of the store varies in width from 120cm to 150cm in front of our counter.  Our counter is 97cm high and 45cm deep.

We have a push button EFTPOS machine that is not tethered and can be brought to you if easier.  There is a surcharge on all card purchases, or you are very welcome to pay with cash.

We have a lot of low shelving and displays, and are more than happy to assist anyone who would like to see anything higher that might be out of reach.

We have a small change room on site that is 100 x 110cm, with an entrance that is 66cm wide.  It is located in the front of the store, to the left of the entrance (near the adult clothing).  We also have a larger back room which can be closed off and used for privacy by request.

SCENTS AND SOUNDS

Typical scents in our store are from the candles and body products, however this varies.  We do keep the door open when weather permits.

Sounds are primarily the background music in store (which can be adjusted on request) and the sounds of traffic outside the store.

PRIVATE SHOPPING BY APPOINTMENT

For anyone with light, sound or crowd sensitivity, we are happy to accomodate private quiet shopping times between 9.30-10am (before opening) or 5-5.30pm (after closing) Tuesdays to Saturdays by arrangement.  Please call the store on 0491 110 374 or email us at info@farfetcheddesigns.com.au to let us know, so we can make sure someone is here for you. 

During these times, you can request low or reduced lighting and we can turn off any background music.  We can be digilent assistants or let you do your own thing - whatever you feel most comfortable with.  If there's anything else that would make shopping instore easier for you, we're happy to help if we can.

We also have the ability to help with virtual shopping via Facetime or phone.  Everything we have in store is viewable on the website and we offer free gift wrapping as well as free delivery (may not be same day) within 3km from the store.

NAVIGATING SEDDON VILLAGE

There is a number of accessible parking spaces in Seddon Village: including one  directly across from us, out the front of 93 Charles Street (we are at 84 Charles Street).  From there, there is a pedestrian crossing with no curb rises to help get across Charles Street.

Seddon is accessible via 2 train stations;

•  Seddon Station (a 9 minute walk to the store - right on Pentland Parade and left into Charles Street)
•  Middle Footscray Station (an 8 minute walk to the store - right on Victoria Street and right into Charles Street).  Both walks are mostly flat.

Plus there is a bus stop across from us on Charles street for bus route 223 that runs from Highpoint Shopping Centre and through Footscray, Seddon and Yarraville.  

There is also an accessible toilet available to the public in Harris Reserve (near the corner of Gamon & Thomson Street).  It is a 2 minute / 50 metre walk from the store; located one block up Gamon Street from Charles Street.
